Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Fighting Dachshunds
|
The Hamilton Thunderbirds got a superb performance from pitcher Ethan Morse, but the Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds still won the game, 6-3. Morse threw 7.2 innings of 5-hit ball. Ellenburg reliever Hai-liang Che picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Steve MacDougal shouldered the loss. Hamilton's current losing streak is now 4 games.
Ellenburg used the clutch hitting of Bake McBride to capture the win. The right fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to give the Fighting Dachshunds the lead, 4-3. For the game, McBride had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," McBride said.
