The Kansas Rainbeaus picked up a win at Wichita Field, knocking off the Hartford Pride, 2-1. On the mound for Kansas was left-hander António Miranda, who played a pivotal role in the win. In 8 innings, Miranda surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. He allowed 1 run. Bruno Dares got the save, the 7th for him this season.

Had Ken Hines not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Hines hit a 2-run single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Rainbeaus.

"We made a couple of mistakes," said Hartford skipper Terry King, "and it cost us."

Kansas is now riding a 3-game win streak.
