Blitzkrieg Topple Humpbacks, 1-0
|
The Port Huron Blitzkrieg beat the Alaskan Humpbacks, 1-0. Port Huron pitcher and Duluth, Minnesota, native Ed Pearce led the way. Gil Childers closed the door for Port Huron, picking up his 5th save of the year. Port Huron now sits in last place in the Silver AAA at 6-15.
The Blitzkrieg got an important contribution from first baseman Barnes Libbinga, who in the top of the fifth punched a first pitch forkball into right for a solo home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Blitzkrieg ahead, 1-0.
"We did just enough to win," Libbinga said.
