Pride Need Extra Innings to Top Fighting Dachshunds, 7-6
|
The Hartford Pride turned back the Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds, 7-6, at Dog Park in Ellenburg. Mario Rodríguez, in particular, had a fine performance. He was 2 for 4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 2 runs. Wessel de Best came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. His record now stands at 1-0. The win puts Hartford at 5-2.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Okakura Samurakami came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing Ellenburg pitcher Hai-liang Che, he hit a 1-1 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Hartford on top, 7-6.
"I like our moxie," said Pride manager Terry King.
