Fighting Dachshunds Rally to Eke Out Win
|
Ellenburg beat Sunset District at Fog Park, escaping with a 4-3 win. The win in large part was due to first baseman Eric Heath. He was 2-4 with a home run, while scoring 2. Ellenburg reliever Hai-liang Che picked up the win to move to 1-0. Félix López suffered the loss. Ikaaka Iokia picked up the save for Ellenburg, his 1st of the year.
The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Arnie Dunn came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Sunset District pitcher Félix López, he hit a 0-1 slider for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Ellenburg on top, 4-3.
"I like our resilience," said Heath.
The loss drops Sunset District to 2-1.
