Despite a fine performance by designated hitter Mike Sherman, the Port Huron Blitzkrieg lost to the Hamilton Thunderbirds, 7-5. Sherman went 3-4 with 2 doubles. He drove in 4 runs. The winner in relief was José Pérez. He is now 1-0. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. The save went to Jurgen Helmer, his 1st this season.

This game was not decided until late. With no one out in the top of the ninth, Lou Werner drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Thunderbirds took the lead, 6-5.

"It wasn't our best performance," said Werner, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."

The win gives Hamilton a record of 1-1.
