Fans of the Port Huron Blitzkrieg who packed the stands for the home opener were rewarded with a Port Huron win over the visiting Hamilton Thunderbirds, 3-1. Mike Thornton started for the home team against George Taylor. Mike Thornton earned accolades for his performance.

The Blitzkrieg got a big at-bat from center fielder Ray Parker. For the game, Parker was 1 for 5 with a triple. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the second, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 2-run triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Port Huron a 3-1 lead.
