Tacoma got a terrific performance from pitcher Rod Ropp, but it wasn't enough to beat the Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas. Chesapeake won the Ghost Crab Park contest, 4-1. Ropp threw 7.2 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Chesapeake reliever José Souza picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Bill Joseph was saddled with the loss. Tacoma, with the loss, is 1-2.
Abram Kavalerov electrified the crowd in the bottom of the tenth when he took Tacoma pitcher Bill Joseph deep. His 3-run home run sent the Cangrejos Fantasmas home winners.
"We didn't go down without a fight," said Tacoma manager Gil Schmidt.
