Syracuse right fielder Bill Strong played a vital role in his team's 5-4 triumph over Milton. He was 3-4 with a triple and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Syracuse. The Starks sit in 6th place in the Premier AAA with a record of 46-49.

The game was decided with one out in the bottom of the ninth. With Syracuse trailing 4-3, Eldon Church hit a cutter from Willard Wilhelm to left for a 2-run single. Just like that, the Starks had a walk-off win.
