Sioux Falls shortstop Jeremy Gaines had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Gaines went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 times, even as Athletic Club KC beat the Red Pandas, 5-4. Eric Mason was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 19 of 22 save opportunities. The last-place Reserves are now 34-56, the Red Pandas 48-42.

Athletic Club KC used the timely hitting of Sherwin Tacod to capture the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to put the Reserves on top, 5-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but he made it count.

"We found a way to get it done," Tacod said.
