Black Mambas Need Extra Innings to Top Buzz, 2-1
|
The Austin Black Mambas wiggled past the Salt Lake City Buzz, 2-1, at Mamba Park. The win was highlighted by the performance of Austin pitcher Curt Stokes. The winner in relief was Ron Mora. He is now 2-1. The right-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.1 innings. The Buzz, at 52-50, have lost 4 in a row.
Dai-lin Yen electrified the crowd in the bottom of the 14th when he took Salt Lake City pitcher Grady Booth deep. His solo home run sent the Black Mambas home winners.
"We didn't string enough hits together to win the game," said tight-lipped Salt Lake City manager Tom Carlson. "Obviously."
