Nobles Come Up Short at Tortolita, 2-1
|
The Tortolita Drummers picked up a win at Drummers Ballpark, knocking off the Bakersfield Nobles, 2-1. Starting pitcher Jack Hammer played a key role in the triumph. In 7.1 innings, Hammer surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 6 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Michael Pace picked up the save for Tortolita, his 2nd of the year.
Sibrand Boermeester made an early impact for Tortolita when he stroked his 3rd home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which came with no one out in the bottom of the third, put the Drummers on top, 2-0.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Boermeester told the Tortolita Bulletin.
After today's action, Tortolita sits at 32-16, while Bakersfield falls to 27-21.
