Drummers Run Win Streak to 7
|
In a low-scoring contest, Tortolita pitcher Tony Correa was marvelous in his team's 1-0 win. Correa got the win, improving to 5-1. He allowed 5 hits and walked 1 over 7.1 innings. Correa allowed no runs. Apaghana Shachi earned the save for Tortolita, his 7th of the year.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Drummers had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the top of the fourth, when third baseman Wayne Schmidt hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Jessie Wolfe and made the score 1-0, Drummers. Schmidt was 1-4.
"At the end of the day, it's always about your starting pitcher," said Tortolita skipper Marcos Costa.
Tortolita has now reeled off 7 straight wins.
