Red Pandas Win by Slim Margin, 2-1
|
Stark Stadium was the site of a tense game between the Syracuse Starks and Sioux Falls Red Pandas.
Sioux Falls catcher Mark Howell made his presence felt in the 2-1 Red Pandas triumph over the Syracuse Starks. Howell went 3-3 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. Thomas Brown, now 1-0, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on 3 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. The save was credited to Kirby Perkins, his 5th.
Sioux Falls used the timely hitting of Will Hart to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Red Pandas on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I was a little disappointed," said Syracuse manager Gabriel Madrigal. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
With the win over Syracuse, the Red Pandas improved to 24-16.
