Gian-Carlo Maneilli could take little solace in pitching a good game. The fact is his Pennsauken Flyers lost, dropping a 2-1 decision to the Syracuse Starks at Pennsauken Park. Mario Méndez finished the game for Syracuse and earned his 12th save. The 6th-place Starks are 20-19.
Syracuse used the timely hitting of Zhong-yi Yun to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Starks on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Let's just say I'm happy we won," said Yun. "There are a lot of people in the clubhouse who like to whine too much when we lose."
