Marlins Take Nail-Biter Over Redlegs
|
League Park was rocking after an exciting Marlins win.
The Sacramento Redlegs got a superb performance from pitcher Guillermo Valenzuela. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Ft. Myers. The Marlins won the game, 4-2. Valenzuela threw 6.1 innings of 2-hit ball. Lawrence Anderson notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 3.2 innings. His record now sits at 2-1.
The game ended with a bang. In the bottom of the 18th, with Ft. Myers trailing 2-1, Ludwig Hofler jumped on a first pitch fastball from Carl Neace for a 3-run home run, sending the Marlins to a walk-off win.
"There's still time to turn this season around," said Hofler.
The 8th-place Marlins improved to 44-48.
