Black Mambas Edge Past Squirrel Monkeys, 2-1

In a low-scoring affair between the Austin Black Mambas and the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys, pitcher Pleun Wolf was the difference between victory and defeat. The Austin right-hander earned accolades in the 2-1 Black Mambas win. Austin pitcher Lee tai hoi Chen got the win, upping his record to 6-8. Bernard Miller got the loss. Eric Ramírez got credit for the save for Austin. It was his 19th of the year.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Dave Wise, the 26-year old right fielder ? Wise stroked a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth inning to put Austin up, 2-1. For the game, he was 2 for 3, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We take it day by day here," said Wolf, "and today was a good one for us."
The 7th-place Black Mambas improved to 44-45.
