The Calgary Lynx took Tortolita pitcher Cliff Scarlett's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Drummers Ballpark. The final score had Calgary getting past the Drummers, 6-4. Scarlett went 6.1 innings and allowed 3 runs, striking out 4. The win was credited to Eric Blevins in relief. His record improves to 1-1. Apaghana Shachi took the loss. The Lynx improve their record to 20-14 with the win over Tortolita.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Alberto Montés came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Tortolita pitcher Apaghana Shachi, he hit a 0-1 slider for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Calgary on top, 6-4.
"We'll savor this win," Montés told the Calgary Bulletin, "then get ready for the next game."
