The Syracuse Starks bested the Tortolita Drummers, 9-3, at Drummers Ballpark. Darryl Stansberry was one of the standouts. He went 4 for 5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Jorge Vázquez, the winning pitcher, improved to 3-0. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 3 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 1. Bryant Clark recorded his 1st save for Syracuse.
Patrick Goodhardt, the Syracuse second baseman, contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to make the score 3-2, Starks. For the game, Goodhardt went 3 for 4 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Stansberry. "And not try to do too much."
The Starks, at 16-12, sit in third place in the Premier AAA.
