Tritons Lose to Marlins in Walk Off
|
Jersey City pitcher Ernie Gibson gave the Marlins all they could handle, but in the end, Ft. Myers left League Park with a win, 2-1. Gibson allowed no runs on 4 hits over 6.2 innings. Ft. Myers reliever Jack Williams picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Peter Bradley was tagged with the loss. The Marlins raised their record to 35-39.
The Marlins were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when right fielder Malik bin Nadim turned a first pitch fastball from Peter Bradley into a 2-run double. The walk-off double electrified the League Park denizens and sent the Marlins home with a thrilling 2-1 win.
"It's great when the crowd gets into it," bin Nadim said.
