Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Black Mambas
|
The Austin Black Mambas took Hialeah pitcher George Butler's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Dodos Ballpark. The final score had Austin getting past the Dodos, 7-3. Butler went 5.1 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 5. Austin reliever Carlos Cintrón was the winner. His record is now 2-0. The losing pitcher was André Noël. Their 32-31 record puts the Black Mambas 6th in the Menard's AAA.
Austin used the timely hitting of Wilton Meadows to capture the win. The pinch hitter stroked a bases-clearing double in the top of the eighth inning to put the Black Mambas on top, 6-3. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but he made it count.
"We did a lot of things right," said Meadows.
