Another Day, Another Win for Tritons
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Jersey City Tritons and the Salt Lake City Buzz, pitcher Ernie Gibson was the difference between victory and defeat. The Jersey City right-hander earned accolades in the 3-1 Tritons win. Gibson got the win, improving to 3-5. He allowed 5 hits and walked 2 over 5.2 innings. Gibson allowed 1 run. Nathan May closed the game out for Jersey City, earning his 13th save.
In the top of the ninth, Kevin Sanders stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Buzz were trailing 3-1, but had runners on 1st and 2nd. That's when Nathan May made a terrific pitch and Sanders grounded out. Gone was the dream of a Salt Lake City comeback.
The Buzz, now 31-26, have lost 5 in a row.
