The Syracuse Starks picked up a win at The Bamboo Forest, knocking off the Sioux Falls Red Pandas, 5-3. Starting pitcher Steve Ward played a key role in the triumph. The victory makes Syracuse 9-7.

Syracuse used the timely hitting of Bob Bray to seize the win. The second baseman stroked a 2-run single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Starks on top, 5-3. It was his only hit in 2 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Ward said his team "played with determination."
