The Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys cruised to a win over the Austin Black Mambas, 14-2, at Mamba Park. Bernardo Beltrán led the way, going 3-for-4 for Syracuse. Yura Hrustalyov, the winning pitcher, improved to 1-1. He pitched 7.1 innings, giving up 8 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 7 and walking 2. Syracuse is now 22-23.

The Squirrel Monkeys got an important contribution from second baseman Erwan Michel, who in the top of the fifth hit a fastball into right for a 2-run double. It was his 7th double of the season and put the Squirrel Monkeys ahead, 4-2.

"They thumped us around," said losing manager Perry Bothof.
