Tritons Fall to Hot Chickens, 7-1
|
The Nashville Hot Chickens beat the Jersey City Tritons, 7-1, at Hot Chickens Park. Starting pitcher Steve Crabtree was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Crabtree, the winner, moves to 3-4. He threw 7.2 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 3 walks. Nashville raised its record to 25-18 with the win.
The Hot Chickens got a big hit from shortstop Kenneth Elliott. In the bottom of the fifth, Elliott pounded a bases-clearing double to right. His 8th double of the season put the Hot Chickens ahead, 5-1.
"Winning the game is always the first objective," Elliott said.
