Buzz Edge Jersey City in Pitching Duel
|
In a low-scoring game between Salt Lake City and Jersey City, pitcher Mochihito Sato was excellent. The Salt Lake City left-hander helped his team knock off the Tritons, 1-0. The save was credited to Dave Davis, his 1st. The second-place Buzz have won 5 straight.
Had Iván Monterrey not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 3rd, Monterrey hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 1-0, in favor of the Buzz.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Darryl Gordon.
