Doesburg Excels, But Nobles Win
The Bakersfield Nobles and Syracuse Starks obliged fans looking for a good time.

The Bakersfield Nobles weathered a fine game by Syracuse left fielder Olvido Doesburg to upend the Starks, 6-5, at Jerome Grounds. Doesburg was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Syracuse is 4-5 after the loss.

Council Bluffs, Iowa-born Fred Koch came through in the clutch. In the bottom of the eighth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Nobles trailing 5-4, he hit a 2-run single to center to put Bakersfield on top.

"We're all smiles after that win," Koch told the Bakersfield Times.
