Port Royal right-hander Andrew MacEwen pitched his team to victory over the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys at Ballpark of Port Royal. The final score was 4-3. MacEwen, the winner, moves to 2-0. He threw 7 innings of 1-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 5 walks. The loss drops the Syracuse record to a disappointing 6-10.
The Disaster got a big at-bat from first baseman Tom Hancock. For the game, Hancock was 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the sixth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 2nd home run of the season gave Port Royal a 4-3 lead.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Syracuse skipper Scott Garrison.
