Lakers Come Up Short at Nova Scotia, 5-4
|
Eric MacKichan had a good game, but he could not keep the Echo Park Lakers from falling, 5-4, to the Nova Scotia Leviathan at The Dungeon in Halifax. The Echo Park designated hitter went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once in the loss. Nova Scotia reliever Shinsui Kawaguchi picked up the win, raising his record to 1-0. Denis Jongenelen was tagged with the loss. George King closed the game out for Nova Scotia, earning his 3rd save.
Cam Lumsden went 1 for 2 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Nova Scotia. The 11-year veteran had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Denis Jongenelen. It was his 12th RBI of the season.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Lumsden said after the game.
The win puts Nova Scotia at 22-12 this season.
