Mockingbirds Roseta Raps 3 Homers
Sunday, July 12th , 2054
His swing was a thing of beauty. Three times José Roseta swung the bat and three times he delivered a home run. It was an awesome sight to behold at MSL Baltimore Ballpark, but to no avail, for as good as he was, the MSL Baltimore Bullets were better.
The MSL Mississippi Mockingbirds couldn't capitalize on the big game from Roseta and dropped the contest 12-7.
The mood in the Mockingbirds clubhouse afterward was subdued, with several players remarking that they had allowed the Bullets to spoil the day for Roseta.
"Some of the boys are beating themselves up about it," MSL Mississippi manager Floyd Oglethorpe said. "They know we win as a team and lose as a team, but it's hard to really put that idea into practice on a day when one of you was playing on such an obviously higher level."
In addition to the homers, Roseta collected 3 RBIs and scored 4 runs.
"I got three pitches down the pipe and popped them," the MSL Mississippi center fielder told reporters. "Today I was in a groove. Tomorrow I could just pop the same pitches up and go 0-for-3."
José Roseta singled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Armando Escalante in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Armando Escalante in the 5th, struck out in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Eng-hee Juan in the 9th.
In his stats this season, Roseta has posted a batting average of .260 with 26 hits in 100 at-bats, 7 home runs and 13 RBIs. He has also scored 13 runs, walked 9 times and compiled a .318 OBP.
