League Suspends Collins Saturday, August 1st , 2054 Sam Collins, shortstop for the Ft. Myers Marlins, will be getting a few days off the hard way -- a 2-game suspension for aggressively arguing with an umpire in a recent game with Vermont. After being called out on strikes, Collins stood toe-to-toe with the home plate umpire and hotly contested the call. Apparently he got too close to the arbiter and was ejected from the game, allegedly making contact with the bill of his cap. "I don't remember billing him. I don't remember doing that," Collins told BNN today. Collins is presently batting .172 with 2 home runs, 18 runs scored and 10 RBIs. His OBP is .260. |
