Lake Erie Loses Rafael Villanueva for Season Sunday, August 30th , 2054 The doctors have spoken and Rafael Villanueva of the Lake Erie Arryns didn't like what he heard. The 23-year-old reliever is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Villanueva sustained his season-ending injury during the Grand Forks Caterpillars game yesterday at Arryns Ballpark. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Lake Erie medical staff reported Villanueva had a ruptured disc and would be absent from the lineup for at least 7 months. For the year Villanueva has saved 2 games while posting an ERA of 1.89 and 55 strikeouts in 33.1 innings. His totals also include a 2-0 record in 13 relief appearances. |
