King Earns June's Best Pitcher Honor Wednesday, July 1st , 2054 The Washington Generals celebrated today after the news filtered through the clubhouse that Les King had been selected as June's M3L Single A Pitcher of the Month. King's zest for the game has been a frequent topic on the sports pages and his numbers of late have made his fans even more enthusiastic. "Our coaching staff really helps me prepare well," King said, "and the fans feed off good pitching. Your pitches just seem to have that extra pop to them when the fans are behind you and you feel confident you can get outs." King tossed 33 innings last month, holding opponents to a .157 average while striking out 29 batters. In 5 starting assignments he came away with a 4-1 record, putting together an ERA of 0.82. This year King has registered 6 wins and 2 losses in 8 starts with a 1.24 ERA while registering 43 strikeouts and 17 walks in 50.2 innings. |
