Grey Wolves, Coeur Play 11 to Settle Game 1, Vancouver Now Leads Series 1-0
|
The Vancouver Grey Wolves started the ToC First Round in dramatic fashion today, stealing Game 1 from the St. Louis Coeur in a walk-off in the 11th inning. Vancouver took the 3-2 win thanks in large part to a good day from starter Yaichiro Shini. The right-hander threw 5.0 innings allowing 1 runs in the win, which gave the Grey Wolves a 1-0 lead to start the best-of-5 series.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the 11th inning, when Vancouver first baseman Pedro Palgon, facing Thad Parker, had a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. It gave the Grey Wolves the 3-2 win.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Palgon told the Vancouver Times.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Wolf Den in Vancouver in Vancouver.
