Home Field Advantage: Morgan, Memphis Open SL R Championship with Win

The rookie looked like he belonged out there.
The Memphis Music sent 19-year-old right-hander Doug Morgan to the mound today for a high-pressure playoff start and he repaid their confidence, quieting the Bethlehem Angel Kitties on a day where the Music struggled to produce runs of their own. In the end, Memphis cobbled together enough to take the 2-1 decision. The win gave Memphis a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 SL R Championship.
Had Dustin Wallace not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, Wallace hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Music.
"It's hard to overstate how much this mattered to us, especially in a short series," Memphis manager Xue-liang Li said.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Stage in Memphis in Memphis.
