Strijk, Hurricanes Too Much for Northern Lions BC
The MSL Cape Coral Hurricanes began the 2054 season with a convincing 7-5 win over the MSL Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC at MSL Cape Coral Ballpark. Most impressive was MSL Cape Coral designated hitter Sjelle Strijk, who was 3-3 with a home run, a double, and was hit by a pitch. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Sergio López earned the win after being called from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 3.1 innings. He upped his record to 1-0.

In the bottom of the sixth, MSL Cape Coral first baseman Jeremy McLaughlin had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 3rd and two out, McLaughlin stroked a run-scoring single to right. It made the score 6-5, MSL Cape Coral. For the game, he went 1-4 with a walk.

"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," McLaughlin said.
