Piranhas Topple U-18, 6-4, as Løvdal Shines
|
The MSL Panama City Piranhas dumped the MSL Athletic Club KC U-18, 6-4, in large part due to center fielder Trym Løvdal. On the day, Løvdal went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 5 RBI and scoring once for the Piranhas. Ultse Lammers went 6.1 innings for MSL Panama City to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs. He scattered 3 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 7. His record improves to 2-5. Luis Herrera was credited with the save for MSL Panama City, his 9th of the season.
With MSL Panama City trailing 2-1 in the bottom of the third, Løvdal hit a 2-run single off MSL Athletic Club KC hurler Stewart Purssell. It was the 5th hit of the season for Løvdal and put his team ahead, 3-2.
"I was hoping to make good contact," said Løvdal. "I wasn't trying to knock the snot out of it."
The win boosted MSL Panama City to 15-12.
