Kingfishers Rally For Late Win Over U-18
|
Fans saw a dandy of a game between the MSL Pittsburgh Kingfishers and MSL Athletic Club KC U-18.
MSL Athletic Club KC got a valiant performance from pitcher Stewart Purssell, but it wasn't enough to beat the MSL Pittsburgh Kingfishers. MSL Pittsburgh won the game, 4-3. Purssell threw 7.0 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. Aongatu Malamanana notched the win in relief. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. His record now sits at 1-0.
Denver, Colorado-born Dan McCullough came through in the clutch. In the top of the eighth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd and the Kingfishers trailing 3-2, he hit a 2-run single to center to put MSL Pittsburgh on top.
"Both teams played hard," said MSL Pittsburgh manager Ricky Miller.
MSL Athletic Club KC has now lost 4 in a row.
