Otters Stumble Again, Lose, 8-1
|
The exploits of center fielder Ernesto Vázquez, who is tied for 4th in the 3A- in hits with 89, helped the Flint Crush defeat the Tulsa Otters, 8-1. Vázquez was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 2. Richard Jiménez earned the win for Flint. He lasted 6 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 6. With the win, he raised his record to 5-6. Dirk McIntyre earned the save for Flint, his 3rd of the year.
Flint took a 2-0 lead on Vázquez's 17th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which he hit off Phil Chamings in the top of the sixth, propelled Flint to the win.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Flint manager Tim Nelson.
Flint has now won 3 straight, while the Otters have lost 7 in a row.
