Shockers Snatch 3-2 Win
|
The Surprise Shockers picked up a win at Alouettes Ballpark, courtesy of Neil Herrera. The left-hander helped his team stop the Capital Hill Interns, 3-2. In 7 innings, Herrera surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 11 and walking 0. He allowed 2 runs. Luis Pizarro got credit for the save for Surprise. It was his 6th of the year.
Surprise used the bat of Wayne Summers to get the win. The left fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Shockers ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"I had a good game plan," said Herrera. "I made my pitches." His manager concurred. "It was all there," David Buchanan said, "the velocity, the sharpness of his pitches."
The Interns have now dropped 6 straight.
