Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Music
|
Memphis Music starter Doug Morgan was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Beaumont Crossbeaus, 5-3. Hjalmar Roozen earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. His record is now 9-4. Memphis, at 50-29, is 4½ games up in the Silver Low A.
Memphis used the timely hitting of Michael Austin to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Music on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll put that win in the can," said Austin, "and go after the next one."
