Music Squelch Crossbeaus Offense in Shutout Win
|
In a tight game between the Memphis Music and the Beaumont Crossbeaus, pitcher Doug Morgan was terrific on the mound. The Memphis right-hander helped his team to the 3-0 win. The winning pitcher was Morgan, now 1-0. He tossed 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 5. Lex Boon closed the game out for Memphis, earning his 7th save.
The Music got a big at-bat from catcher Michael Austin. For the game, Austin went 1-4 with a double. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the sixth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 4th double of the season gave Memphis a 2-0 lead.
Austin told a Memphis Herald reporter he was "pleased as punch" with the win.
The last-place Crossbeaus have dropped 5 straight games.
