Quebec City picked up a win at The Target, bumping off the Beaumont Crossbeaus, 3-1. Pitcher Reginald Helms was a major reason the Baby Blues emerged victorious. Helms, now 2-6, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Quebec City is now 28-18, Beaumont 12-34.
The Baby Blues took the lead in the top of the third when Bill Arnold banged a two-out home run. Quebec City had been trailing 1-0, but Arnold hit a first pitch fastball from Hidetada Hasegawa for a 2-run home run.
"Every loss hurts," said Beaumont manager Manny Gonzáles. "But this was a tough one."
