Uruguayans Prevail, 1-0, Over Northwest Territory
|
Germantown starter Manuel Bernal pitched well against the Northwest Territory Beavers at Ballpark of Albuquerque. The left-hander led his team to a win, 1-0. Bernal, now 4-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing no runs. Orlando Lizardia got credit for the save for Germantown. It was his 5th of the year.
The Uruguayans got a big at-bat from shortstop Ron Auten. For the game, Auten went 1-4 with a double. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 4th double of the season gave Germantown a 1-0 lead.
"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Auten told the Germantown Gazette.
The Uruguayans sport a record of 17-26.
