Pennington Helps Centennial Beat Octopi, 9-4
|
The Fort Knox Centennial relied on the hitting of third baseman Bobby Pennington to stop the Ogallala Octopi, 9-4. For the game, Pennington was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 and driving in 6. Cordell Dawson picked up the win with 5.1 innings of work. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 7-4. The win makes Fort Knox 52-39.
A critical at-bat came in the top of the seventh inning when the Centennial sent 19-year-old designated hitter Nathan O'Rorke to the plate with the bases loaded. The youngster shook off the pressure and drew a walk, driving in 1 run, to put Fort Knox on top, 6-4.
