Hounds Lick Warheads, 13-1
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Hicksville Hounds and Amarillo Warheads.
Hicksville left fielder Emílio Meléndez helped his team beat the Amarillo Warheads, 13-1. Meléndez went 2 for 2 for the Hounds. Ángel Chávez, who went 8 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 1 run on 6 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 8. His record now stands at 2-5.
With Hicksville leading 4-0 in the bottom of the third, Meléndez came up to bat against Amarillo pitcher Karol Pejemsky. Meléndez hit a changeup to left for a grand slam home run. His 2nd home run of the season put the Hounds on top, 8-0.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Meléndez told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
Hicksville now owns a record of 29-32.
