Hicksville got an elite performance from starting pitcher Jesús Cortéz in taking a 3-1 decision over the Ogallala Octopi. Cortéz picked up the win for Hicksville, going 8 innings. He gave up 1 run on 3 hits. He now sports a record of 1-6. Jorge Guillén earned the save, his 6th.
Dylan McKinney had a critical at-bat with two out in the bottom of the seventh for Hicksville. He came through with a run-scoring single to put Hicksville in front, 3-1.
Cortéz said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
Hicksville, now 26-31, holds down 7th place in the Premier Low A.
