The Hicksville Hounds knocked off the Hudsonville Flanderses, 7-5, at Hound Pound. Emílio Meléndez produced 2 singles and 1 double, while scoring 1 run and driving in 2. Jorge Rosa, now 1-0, was credited with the win. He allowed 3 runs on 3 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 3. Earning his 3rd save for Hicksville was Juliano Chianca.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the sixth, with the game tied, Paulaui Olakeakua was at the plate when Hicksville scored 1 on an error. The miscue enabled the Hounds to go in front, 3-2.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Olakeakua told the Hicksville Observer.
Hudsonville is 4-11 after the defeat.
