The home crowd had a good time watching the Ogallala Octopi and Crowley Cajuns get after it.

Crowley beat Ogallala on the strength of starter Brad Pate's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a win, 5-1. Pate went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 0, and struck out 9. His record improves to 1-0. Dae-hwan Park finished the game for Crowley and earned his 1st save.

The Octopi had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Cajuns going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old first baseman Yannick Bouwman came to the plate. Bouwman hit a 2-run home run on a 2-2 slider from Ogallala hurler Máximo Espinoza. It was Bouwman's 1st home run of the year.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Crowley manager Neal Davis.

The loss puts Ogallala at 3-2.
