Trash Pandas Prevail, 2-1, Over Shady Side
|
Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Shady Side Zoomies home opener. Jed Knight started for the home team against Warren Wilson for the Watford City Trash Pandas. The Zoomies were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 2-1, Watford City. Warren Wilson, though, was impressive. Wilson, the winner, moves to 1-0. He threw 5 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 1 walk.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Adrik Wirgasoff? The Watford City third baseman had a run-scoring double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Trash Pandas on top, 2-1. For the game, Wirgasoff had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Watford City manager Luis García said.
